Almo High School was a community-focused institution located in Almo within Calloway County, Kentucky. Its athletic teams were famously known as the Warriors, and they competed in the distinctive school colors of blue and gray. The school served as a vital educational and social hub for the small agricultural community in the northern part of the county for several decades. The high school's independent operations came to an end in 1960 as part of a significant county-wide reorganization. During this period, Almo High School consolidated with five other local institutions—Faxon, Hazel, Kirksey, Lynn Grove, and New Concord—to form the centralized Calloway County High School. The consolidated school, which remains active as of 2026, adopted the "Lakers" mascot to represent the unified county. In boys' basketball, the Almo Warriors were active members of the KHSAA 1st Region. The program was a consistent participant in district and regional tournaments throughout the 1940s and 1950s, representing its corner of the Jackson Purchase region. A notable highlight in the program's history occurred as recently as 2025, when community members reflected on the legacy of players like James Wells and celebrated historical undefeated seasons, such as the 1971 team photo which remains a point of local pride. The legacy of the Warriors is preserved by the West Kentucky High School Basketball Heritage Museum as one of the foundational community programs that helped shape the modern history of Calloway County athletics.
