Wildcats
Wildcats
Hickman High School was a prominent small-town institution located in the river city of Hickman within Fulton County, Kentucky. Its athletic teams were known as the Wildcats, a name that was paired with the school colors of orange and black. The school’s independent existence came to an end in 1957 as part of a major regional reorganization. During this transition, Hickman High School consolidated with Cayce High School to form the new Fulton County High School. The original school building, which had a storied history as a centerpiece of the Hickman community, was eventually closed as secondary education moved to the new centralized county facility. In boys' basketball, the Hickman Wildcats were a consistent presence in Region 1, frequently competing against local rivals within Fulton County and the surrounding western Kentucky area. The program was a source of great local pride throughout the mid-20th century, particularly during the 1940s and 1950s. While they did not capture a state title, they were respected for their competitive play in the regional and district tournaments that defined the era before consolidation.
